News - Major Strike Updates - Run Down
There has been a lot happening in the past couple of days. Here is a quick run down:
Moving one step closer to ending the 4-month-old strike, the board of the Writers Guild of America unanimously blessed this morning the tentative accord reached last week with the studios.
The endorsement paves the way for writers to return to work on Wednesday, pending a vote by the guild's membership to lift the strike order on Tuesday. The guild's 10,500 movie and TV writers covered by this contract are expected to ratify the new three-year agreement within 10 days.
Hollywood's top show runners, however, can return to work Monday in their capacity as producers, which includes hiring crews and getting their series ready to shoot. The strike shut down more than 60 shows and idled thousands of production workers who are anxious to return to their jobs.

News- Deal Has Been Reached to End Writers' Strike
A deal has been struck between the major media companies and the Writers Guild of America to end the writers' strike, former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner revealed on CNBC.
"It's over," Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general."
Eisner, speaking live on CNBC's "Fast Money," seemed to hesitate initially about whether it was possible that the writers could still reject the agreement, but finally suggested the deal's acceptance was inevitable.
"A deal has been made, and they'll be back to work very soon," Eisner said, adding, "I know a deal's been made. I know it's over."
Eisner did not elaborate on terms of the agreement. He said he expects most of the media companies affected by the strike to have "small" write-downs as a result of the deal. Eisner said the deal was struck last Friday.
As a result of studio cutbacks, however, many of the writers who went on strike are unlikely to return to the same big-money contracts they'd had as individuals with the studios, Eisner said.

News - Contract outlined in Hollywood writers strike
Hollywood's striking writers and major studios have reached the outlines of a new employment contract, resolving key sticking points over how much writers should be paid for work that is distributed over the Internet, people familiar with the negotiations said Saturday.
A final contract could be presented to the Writers Guild of America board as early as Friday, according to three people close to the talks who asked not to be identified because the negotiations are confidential.
The 3-month-old strike is expected to end once the board approves the contract.

News - Is the Strike Almost Over?
From EOnline
According to crazy Internet people, friends of friends and people who heard things from their agent's manicurist's boyfriends who supposedly work for the union, the strike might be almost over. Informal talks resumed last week after the DGA-AMPTP handshake deal, and big cheeses from both sides broke bread this weekend. By Saturday, I was hearing, "It'll be over this week."
Here's a remixed version of the official 24 trailer for all you depressed 24 fans out there.
News - For '24' fans, the strike's hours drag on
Here's a great article put together by the LA Times on how the strike is affecting 24 related blogs, including 24Fans.net! Deborah Netburn, of the LA Times, called and did an interview on me about the various things we're going through as the strike continues.
Jon Cassar, the director/producer of 24 has updated his site today. He adds:
We are all hoping that it [writer's strike] gets settled soon so we can all go back to work. I was hoping that FOX comes up with an alternative to airing us in 2009, and now there is a rumor that has us airing a half season in the fall. But nothing can be planned out until this dispute is over. Lets all hope that the producers and writers can come up with a fair agreement now that the Directors Guild have paved the way and settled their contract.
